DCA is looking for an energetic and experienced Area Coordinator to lead its refugee programme in Gambella.
You will be responsible for leading the overall planning, implementation and management as well as the achievement of the goals and objectives of the existing projects in a timely and cost-effective manner with adherence to technical quality standards and donor guidelines. You will be based in Gambella.
DanChurchAid (DCA) is a Danish humanitarian, non-government and non-profit organisation founded in 1921. Since 2003 DCA has been presence in Ethiopia. The organization has a strong development and humanitarian program in Ethiopia with offices in Addis, Bale and Gambella. DCA opened an office in Gambella in March 2015 and has currently 18 staff. The program focuses on fresh food and WASH for South Sudanese refugee. The WASH component is co-implemented with Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekana Yesus (EECMY) while the Fresh Food component is being implemented directly by DCA. The programme is expected to expand in 2016.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure effective and high quality implementation of the DCA Gambella programme
- Line manage Gambella staff and ensure positive synergies, skill development and collaboration
- Lead together with the Gambella Senior Management Team an effective team through results-oriented management systems and regular team building activities – providing leadership, on-the-job capacity building, and designing staff development strategies.
- Participate actively in coordination with key stakeholders and serve as the primary point of contact for Gambella stakeholders, including UNHCR, ARRA, UK Aid, ECHO and other key stakeholders
- Lead fundraising initiatives for the Gambella programme
- Ensure timely information flows and reporting to the DCA, Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) and EECMY Offices in Addis
Qualifications
- At least four years of previous work experience in a high management position
- University degree with advanced training/courses either in management, international relations
development studies, or other related field
- Extensive project management experience (management, planning, staff development and training skills) in emergency and/or development programmes.
- Experience in WASH, cash-based programming desired
- Practical and extensive financial, HR, and administration management experience
- Excellent skills in written and spoken English.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, and flexibility in cultural and organizational terms
- Experience with funding from ECHO, DfID, Danida, BPRM will be an added advantage
- Knowledge of local language and/or regional experience will be an added advantage
- Ability to work well under pressure and in setting like Gambella
