Summary of Position
The Psychosocial Officer (PSSO) contributes to the achievement of DCA programme objectives through the efficient and effective follow up support of programme implementation inside Syria.
The PSSO works under the direct supervision of the Psychosocial Advisor and overall supervision of Programme Manager, as well as in close coordination with the colleagues inside Syria. The Psychosocial Officer will be supporting the implementation of Psychosocial activities in various locations inside Syria. The work could change and include new types of activities in the coming months.
Specific Areas of Responsibility
With the support of the PSS Advisor and based on the activities defined in grant agreements, the PSSO will support and monitor and evaluate the activities to be carried out by the field teams and organizational partners based inside Syria.
Project Implementation:**
Preparatory phase
Source programme related documents and co-create programme monitoring tools with the PSS teams and partners
Co-develop beneficiary selection criteria
Planning of activities
Coordinate and communicate workplans with and between teams and partners
Maintain/update detailed project workplans that support and achieve the overall PSS activities, adhering to timelines and completion dates
Share relevant information and liaise with PSS partners
Implementation of activities
Translate PSS training documents into Arabic and act as co facilitator & translator in training workshops
Syntheise and share weekly achievement reports between field teams and partners
Collaboration with support departments
Work closely and coordinate with support staff to ensure timely and compliant programme activities and expenditures, following strict adherence to budget lines
Any other work related activities requested by the PSS Advisor or Programme Manager
Data management
Collect & manage all programme data and relevant PSS information
Analysis of programme information and data
Reporting:
Provide weekly reports to the PSS Advisor
Translation of programme documentation (English/Arabic)
Prepare monthly activity and beneficiary reports for the Information Management Officer, in various formats
Coordination and representation:
Take part in project opening and closing meetings
Participate in cluster meetings and technical working groups
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Syrian nationals preferred
At least 2 years working with an NGO, specifically in the field of PSS
University degree
Background in facilitation/training support desireable
Computer literate: comfortable working in MS Word, Excel, database management
Good level of English essential (speaking, reading and writing)
Good level of Arabic essential (speaking, reading and writing)
Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
High degree of judgment and initiative; ability to work with a high degree of independence within assigned areas.
