Global Humanitarian Advisor for Roving position

You are able to advise local teams through all the phases of the project cycle in emergency response, as well as being a good fundraiser. You would describe your self is a self-starter and a great motivator. Moving in and out of chaotic environments, you will as our ideal candidate identify priorities and targets and rapidly mobilize DCA’s teams to move towards implementation. Above all, you are robust and a committed team player, and a good communicator and trainer.
This is a roving position with a home base at a DCA office (posting to be determined), with extensive travelling to DCA offices globally, for period ranging from 5 days to the occasional one month mission.
The position is a fixed-term position with a 2-year contract from ideally the 1st of February, 2016.
This person will have a broad range of humanitarian competencies and experiences in their tool box. While a specific sectoral specialism isn’t necessary, a broad knowledge of humanitarian response is.
The successful candidate knows enough about all the key sectors to be able to critically engage with sectoral experts, and to be able to identify which needs are the highest priority.
Key Experiences
Humanitarian experience is more important than education. Your CV shows that you understand the importance of the role of an Advisor and Team Leader. Your experience with disaster projects and international donors, shows that you can advise and support for writing applications, design projects, quality assure ongoing projects, and network. We seek someone who is up to date on key innovations in humanitarian assistance, including Cash Transfer Programming, a key area of expertise for DanChurchAid.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of experience managing humanitarian aid programs in complex environments, preferably with a widely-recognized NGO
Experience in all phases of project cycle management in humanitarian response programs
Knowledge of and training in humanitarian standards in quality and accountability, including Sphere standards
Prior knowledge and experience in Cash Transfer Programming (at least CaLP Level I training completed)
Fluent in English, including native level English writting skills
Prior experience with humanitarian donor formats, including ECHO
Excellent communications and fundraising skills
With our HQ in Copenhagen, Denmark, we anticipate that this position will be based in one of our 16 Regional Offices, likely in Southern or Eastern Africa.
