DanChurchAid (DCA) is looking for an experienced Gender Based Violence (GBV) –
Protection Coordinator to lead our GBV activities in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
DCA is a Danish humanitarian, non-government and non-profit organisation that has
been working in Bangladesh since the 1980s. As a response to the influx of Rohingya
refugees from Myanmar, DCA together with its local partner responded through the
provision of emergency relief, WASH and setting up women safe spaces. DCA is now
setting up its GBV programme for self-implementation while at the same time aims to
build the capacity of its current partner in the delivery of services and activities in the
women safe spaces. In addition, DCA will be expanding its coverage with shelter and
disaster risk reduction support for Rohingya communities.
The experienced Gender Based Violence (GBV) –Protection Coordinator will provide
the technical lead on DCA’s activities within the field of GBV in Cox’s Bazar. The GBV
Coordinator will ensure that interventions are technically sound, take into account
international best practices, and are appropriately meeting the needs of adolescent
girls and women in the targeted Rohingya sites. The GBV Coordinator will be based in
the field with frequent travel to Cox’s Bazar for coordination and networking.
Key duties and responsibilities
Technical Qualities
Lead the development of the strategy for the GBV response to the Rohingya
crisis in Cox’s Bazar
l
Provide technical leadership on GBV prevention and response programming,
supporting and empowering partners and DCA staff to creative, effective and
comprehensive programming
l
Provide technical support on the design of services and activities in the women
safe spaces and support DCA staff and partner organisations through training
and monitoring
l
Conduct and facilitate trainings for partners and DCA staff on relevant GBV topics
as appropriate
l
Build capacity of DCA staff and local partners to ensure a reliable M&E system
for better GBV data management, and ethical GBV data collection and
information management
l
Provide technical support to ensure program quality, inclusive of regular technical
monitoring of case management and PSS services under the program
l
Support partners and key actors to adopt internationally recognized best
practices, proven tools, methodologies on GBV, working collaboratively to ensure
their relevance for the context and successful implementation
l
Regularly attend GBV sub-cluster meetings at appropriate levels to feed in DCA
priorities from the field.
l
Ensure field concerns and challenges are brought to relevant stakeholders to
push for standards and procedures that systematize how GBV is implemented
and coordinated at the field level.

Grant Management and Fundraising
Lead proposal development activities (narrative and budget) through planning
and program design with relevant field-based staff, to ensure technical standards
are taken into consideration before submission
l
l Represent DCA if and when needed in relevant cluster and coordination

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop DCA

Qualifications
MSW, MA/S, MPH, or equivalent in health, social science, humanities or other
related degree
l
At least 5 years of overseas experience, including substantial management
experience in gender-based violence/ protection programming and at least 4
years’ experience in direct service provision for survivors of sexual and domestic
violence
l
Previous experience supervising and managing a multi-disciplinary team in a
cross-cultural setting
l
l Previous experience in emergency preparedness and response
Demonstrated experience in capacity building and mentoring of national and
international staff
l
l Demonstrated experience in grant management and proposal writing
l Excellent computer skills in programs such as: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Capable of applying skills and knowledge in a range of capacities, including direct
implementation, advisory functions, training and the transfer of technical
knowledge and management skills to others
l
Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure
well
l
l Fluency in English and/or (other languages) required
An attractive and competitive benefit package with salary between USD 5,500 and
6,700 including pension, plus housing and international insurance.
